Navigating the maze of Online Life Insurance Policies

Article written By John Clamp, 10th January 2009

I'd been pretty content with my current life insurance policy, which I had held with my bank, for a number of years. Never had given much thought to the cost of the premium, and really hadn't looked into the details of the insurance policy. All I did know was that it was a term life insurance policy, and that it would pay out on death, if it occurred in this term of insurance. For some strange reason, I was down the local having a couple of beers with some of my work colleagues, now the conversation can be quite eclectic at times, but today we had wondered onto to the discussion of life insurance. How we got there I don't know, but it was probably something to do with an earlier discussion about motor insurance and insurance policies.

I really don't like traditional insurance brokers, as they tend to be a little bit pushy, but the thought of an instant life insurance quote was quite appealing. I wasn't effectively going to lose any money by cancelling my current insurance policy, and I might even end up getting a cheaper insurance quote. Having been recommended the Go Direct website by a friend, I navigated my way around the hordes of information regarding life insurance policies that Go Direct had placed on their website. For me online life insurance had never been easier, in fact I was starting to enjoy reading about the different types of insurance policies available, such as term insurance, critical illness benefit and the strangely sounding, decreasing term life insurance. To me, I had already decided that life insurance was a much more appealing concept, than having an insurance broker come around to my office or my home, and because online insurance is not so invasive, I was able to read at my leisure, and make informed decisions from the informative website that Go Direct had provided.

For me, online life insurance is the way forward, I'll be looking online when it comes to renew my car and home insurance, and I would happily recommend to anyone that shopping for life insurance, is a much more appealing scenario than having a visit from an insurance broker. Although the services provided by an insurance broker are suitable for some people they are by no means suitable for all, contacting the provider directly enables a consumer to cut out the middle man and the associated costs. I'd say, get online and get your life insurance from Go Direct. It's easy to navigate, gives you plenty of options, and selects the policy most suitable to you. Some people wrongly think that buying a life insurance policy is in some way tempting fate, I disagree, not having a suitable policy in place is tempting fate and can result in your family not receiving adequate support in the event of your demise.
